Don’t let your hands tell your age.  Just like your face, neck and chest area the sooner you begin to take care of them the better.  I’m going to share some of hand creams I’ve tried and like.

The “Feels Good and Has a Nice Scent” bunch

They all feel luxurious and have aromas that I love (which usually involves flowers).

In Order:

The scent of Elemis Jasmine & Rose Hand and Nail Cream (read prior review) includes Jasmine and Rose.   There is a combination of Omega rich oils including nourishing Argan Oil (rich in Vitamin E and Omega 6) and protective Abyssinian Oil (replaces lost lipids).  Jasmine and White Lotus Flower Milks soften and calm dry skin.  $32 for 3.7 oz/ 100 ml, available at Nordstrom‘s website and TimetoSpa

Aerin Beauty ‘Rose’ Hand & Body Cream also has magnolia and peony which help soothe and soften.  $40 for 4.2 oz., available at NordstromNeiman Marcus and other department stores.

Rituals Ginkgo’s Secret Hand Balm is enriched with Ginseng (*the symbol for immortality) and Ginkgo Biloba (*known to strengthen the blood vessels).   * Borrowed from Barneys website.  $17 for 2.5 oz., available on the websites of Rituals and Barneys New YorkRituals stores in New York and in Barneys stores.

LoLLIA by Margot Elena Calm Shea Butter Handcreme contains Hyacinth, Sparkling Citrus, and Vetiver, with rich Shea Butter, Macadamia Nut and Avocado Oils. $25 for 4 oz, available at the LoLLIA website and Neiman Marcus.

The hand creams that are a little richer

Gold Bond Ultimate Intensive Healing Hand Cream has Vitamins B, C and E as well as moisturizing ingredients.  Purchase at drugstores for around $5 for 3 oz.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Fast Absorbing Hand Cream – don’t be thrown off by the inclusion of “Fast Absorbing” in the name.  This hand cream is hydrating but not too thick.  Purchase at drugstores for around $6 for 3 oz.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream Fragrance Free is thicker than it’s cousin and better for very dry, chapped hands.  It’s rich so I like to use it at bedtime.  Purchase at drugstores for around $6 for 3 oz.

Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Super Rich Hand Cream Fragrance Free.  This contains Shea Butter and Vitamin E, feels rich and absorbs easily.  $13 for 2.5 oz, purchase at Bath and Body Works.

So what are your thoughts?  Do you have a favorite hand cream?  I’m always on the look out for a good hand cream!

  1. I like the Aerin one, but it’s still a little too greasy for me. :/ Any suggestions on ones that are even lighter than that one, but relatively effective?

    1. I love the Elemis Jasmine & Rose Hand and Nail Cream for the scent and the way it feels. With any hand cream I use just a little when I know I’m going to use my fingers right away (for something like my tablet) and add extra to the top of my hands. It seems like most hand creams and lotions initially leave a film for a minute or two until they absorb. I haven’t found one that immediately absorbs plus is very hydrating.
