AKA – by Traci Drury

In my last post, Why Can’t I Seem to Find the Right Names on an Ingredient List?, I wrote about the frustration of looking for common ingredients and how products list a different name on the ingredient list (making it nearly impossible to confirm the ingredient actually exists in the product!). Below are some popular ingredients and their trade names that you will likely find in the ingredient list. Please keep in mind that ingredients sometimes have many names so this is not an all-inclusive list. If you know of additional ingredients and their trade names leave a comment or send us a message so I may use it in a future post!

Hyaluronic Acid – sodium hyaluronate, hyaluronan

Peptides – most common is palmitoyl pentapeptide, but most terms end in “peptide”

Vitamin A – retinol, retinoic acid, retinyl palmitate

Vitamin B is not simply one vitamin. Here are a few:
B2: Riboflavin
B3: Niacin aka Nicotinic acid or Niacinamide aka Nicotinamide
B5: Pantothenic acid

Vitamin C – Ascorbic acid, Ascorbic acid, ascorbyl palmitate, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, retinyl ascorbyl phosphate, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate.

Vitamin E – Tocopherol Acetate, Tocopherol, tocopherol linoleate, alpha-tocopherol
